Users of the highly popular messaging app, WhatsApp, may want to keep their eyes open for the new scam going around.
A resident in Mississauga reported receiving an email about a “new private voice message” to check on WhatsApp.

It has been discovered that the email is fraudulent as WhatsApp by default doesn’t send email notifications to users concerning unread messages.
As such, residents have been advised to avoid clicking on the link in the email, as scammers can use it to steal personal data or information.
