The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) has ordered the 11 Electricity Distribution Companies (DISCOs) in Nigeria to suspend the new electricity tariff.
The order was issued recently and it came after the Federal Government agreed with the organised Labour on the suspension of strike over the increase in electricity tariff and pump price of petrol.
While confirming the suspension, NERC said that from September 28 to October 11, all DisCos will revert all charges to the tariff that existed on August 31. This is to give time for wider consultations between the Government and labour in a bid to reach a compromise and resolution on the issues involved.
