Residents of Minna, Niger State capital, have taken to the streets to protest the rising cost of food and living in the state.
As early as 7 am today, the protesters, in large numbers, blocked the Minna-Bida Road at the popular Kpakungu roundabout.
Efforts by the police to calm the situation almost resulted in violence as protesters told police to leave, forcing the police to fire many shots in the air to disperse them.
