A 35-year-old man was stabbed many times while trying to get six children to safety during what police feel was a targeted home invasion early Christmas Eve in Thompson, Manitoba.
RCMP revealed they were called to a residence on Elm Street at about 1:05 p.m. on December 24 and officers arrived to “obvious signs of a struggle and blood throughout but no residents.”
The 35-year-old came back on foot and was taken to hospital in critical condition with severe injuries. Police said the man walked the children and female homeowner to a neighbouring residence before he came back on foot.
This was after he was assaulted and stabbed while trying to get the children to safety in the home after a group of males forced their way in.
Police are searching for 4-5 males, possibly youths or young adults, dressed in all dark clothing and wearing masks. It is believed they drove a pickup truck.
