Lionel Messi has officially confirmed that he’s staying at Barcelona but he’s not really happy about his decision to stay.
The Argentine forward confirmed this via a statement. The statement reads: “I wasn’t happy and I wanted to leave. I have not been allowed this in any way and I will stay at the club so as not to get into a legal dispute.
“The management of the club led by Bartomeu is a disaster.”
The statement was released after series of prolonged discussions which first witnessed Jorge Messi’s statement that suggested that his son’s €700m buyout clause is not valid.
La Liga immediately reacted to the statement and denied that. La Liga stated that their position on the matter remained, which means they believe the clause is valid, as such, it must be paid.
The back-and-forth saga made Messi decide against leaving the club.
He had the option of either battling it out in court with Barcelona, a club he’s been with for almost two decades or backing down and stay.
The Argentine forward chose to stay and will be playing at Camp Nou next season.
