Lionel Messi has made history by becoming the first footballer to win The Best FIFA Men’s Player award three times.
The 8-time Balon d’Or winner was confirmed as the 2023 winner at The Best FIFA Football Awards ceremony in London recently.
Messi was recognized for major achievements, having come out winner in the voting ahead of finalists Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe.
Meanwhile, Messi was not present at the party as he was with his Inter Miami teammates as they prepare for a pre-season friendly against El Salvador on Friday.
Messi had previously won the award in 2019 and 2022.
The Best FIFA Award recognizes the most outstanding footballer in the men’s game every year.
