The Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, has debunked media reports that the state government has withheld the money donated to viral amputee hawker, Mary Daniel.
The Nation newspaper’s report alleged that the state government withheld Mary’s money after discovering that she ”lied” about her condition.
Nigerians however took to social media recently to request that the funds be released to the lady by the state government.
According to PM News, during a recent interview with Star FM, Omotoso disclosed that the government never planned to deny Daniel of her N25 million donation.
He disclosed further that what the government did was to make sure she was not molested and safe to do anything she intended to do with the money generated for her.
According to the Commissioner, Mary is free to establish her dream supermarket store in Lagos State since fortune smiled on her in the state.
