Katsina State Man divorces wife over high cost of living, by Stanley Ugagbe

A 27-year-old man from Katsina State, Aminu Sani has revealed that he divorced his wife because of high cost of living.

“No be say I no love her or I don tire to dey stay with her, not at all. I only divorce my wife because of high cost of living wey we find ourselves at di moment,” he said.

Sani disclosed that four years ago, things were going well for him and he felt the need to add a second wife. According to him, he was working with one filling station at Dandume Town in Katsina and was making enough money to take care of his family and even give to others.

However, due to high cost of commodities in the market, it became germane for him to send one of his wives parking.

“No be say I lose my job or anything but na di high cost of living mean say di money wey I dey use handle my family issues before no come dey reach because of high cost of everything, pesin get money before u know e don finish,” he said.

When asked on how the divorce happened, Aminu said he reeled out rules and said any of the wives that breaks the rules will leave his home.

“I come siddon tell dem say I get rules and if any of dem break am na divorce be dat. Di number one be say any of dem wey first cause fight go leave di house and second any of dem wey comot without my permission do go as well.”

“I create dis rules because of di high cost of living wahala and I just want get relief. Unfortunately my first wife break one of my rules and na why I divorce her.”

“No be say I no like her, I just do am to get relief from all di wahala wey I dey face.” Aminu noted that the divorced wife has one child for him and he has given the child to his mother to cater for.

The Katsina man also noted that the parents of the divorced man have been asking him to take back his wife but he blatantly refused due to the high cost of living.

However, he noted that “My plan be say if things improve economically and she neva re-marry by then I fit go see her to see how we fit repair wetin don spoil.”
