The residents of Kano are under panic following the death of more than 150 people in just 3 days. It was reported that the corpses that were buried in three cemeteries were not part of dozens of dead bodies that were buried across the eight local government areas that make up Kano metropolis.
Residents are deeply concerned about the deaths owing to the rising cases of coronavirus in the city.
At present, Kano State alone has no fewer than 59 confirmed cases of COVID-19. The rise is geometric if compared to the number of cases reported almost two weeks ago.
The residents believe the deaths came as a result of people ignorantly dying from coronavirus disease.
So far, the affected local government areas are Nasarawa, Kano, Gwale, Ungogo, Dala, Fagge, Municipal, Tarauni and Kumbotso.
The undertakers in Kano State are worried about this situation and they feel the situation is overwhelming them. While reacting to the high death rate, Bashir Mohammed, an undertaker at Goron Dutse’s Dandolo Cemetery in Dala Local Government Area said: “This is worrisome, we are becoming overwhelmed by what we are seeing these days because to me the way people are dying is not ordinary.”
