Joseph Dosu: Hold Jose Peseiro responsible if Super Eagles fail to qualify

NFF gives Super Eagles coach three-day ultimatum to accept pay cut or leave post

Former Super Eagles goalkeeper, Joseph Dosu has said that Super Eagles coach, Jose Peseiro should be held responsible if Nigeria fail to qualify for the 2026 World Cup.

Dosu’s comments come after Super Eagles’ 1-1 draw against Zimbabwe in the qualifier at the Huye Stadium, Butare recently.

Walter Musona put Zimbabwe ahead in the 26th minute while Kelechi Iheanacho equalized for the Super Eagles 25 minutes from time. The Super Eagles have now amassed two points from two matches.

Reacting to the result, Dosu said: “I really don’t know what to say again because from the beginning Nigerians came out to say a lot of things with the way the Super Eagles have been playing and the Hose Peseiro say we are putting pressure on the team. And that we should not put pressure so that the team will play very well.” He told Complete Sports.

“So we have decided not to put pressure and we are still seeing the same thing. So whatever the Federation and the coaches want to do with our national teams they should keep on doing it. If we qualify fine and if we don’t qualify there is nothing anybody can do.

“We can’t hold anybody responsible except the head and the coach, Peseiro. This same coach was asked by the journalist that don’t you think we are having a goalkeeping problem why not bring in Vincent Enyeama. He was asking the journalist that who is Vincent Enyeama. How can you say who is Vincent Enyeama?

“This is a guy that has kept for the Super Eagles for almost 16 years. A goalkeeper that kept for a club in France and everywhere. He’s almost the best in Africa And he’s saying who is Vincent Enyeama. I think this goes a long way. Like I said, wish them what they want to do with the national team. Good luck to them.”
