Legendary singer of the 1972 hit “I Can See Clearly Now”, Johnny Nash has died at the age of 80.
His death was announced by his son, John, who told CBS Los Angeles that Nash died at his home of natural causes after declined health conditions.
The reggae and pop musician had his major debut in 1957 with the single, “A Teenager Sings the Blues”. He spent the other half of his career to work with Grammy-winning engineers to transform analogue tapes of his recordings from the 1970s and 1980s into digital formats.
His single, I Can See Clearly Now, sold over a million copies and emerged top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1972 for four weeks. Also, he had a number one hit in the United Kingdom in 1975 with Tears on My Pillow.
He is survived by his son and his wife.
