Ivanka Trump denies playing role in her father’s personal financial statements

Ivanka Trump has taken a stand in her father’s civil fraud trial, testifying that she played no role in her father’s personal financial statements. Her testimony aligns with that of her brothers, Eric Trump and Donald Trump Jr., as they all face allegations in a lawsuit by New York Attorney General Letitia James. The lawsuit claims that Donald Trump’s asset values were fraudulently inflated to obtain loans and insurance.

Ivanka, once an executive vice president at the Trump Organization and now an unpaid senior adviser, is no longer a defendant in the lawsuit. She emphasized her lack of involvement in her father’s financial statements, stating that she wasn’t privy to the process and had not provided asset valuation information for the statements.

The trial, focusing on conspiracy, insurance fraud, and falsifying business records, already saw Donald Trump on the stand earlier in the week. The judge has ruled that Trump engaged in fraud, potentially impacting his control over properties such as Trump Tower. The lawsuit seeks over $300 million in penalties and a ban on Trump doing business in New York.

Ivanka’s testimony shed light on her role in establishing a lending relationship with Deutsche Bank for the Trump Organization. The trial delves into allegations that Donald Trump gave his daughter a significant discount on apartments while reporting inflated values on financial statements.

While Ivanka distanced herself from the financial aspects, her testimony provides another perspective in a trial that aims to reshape the Trump family business. The judge’s decision and the trial’s outcome could have significant consequences for the former president and his business dealings.
