The ceasefire between Israel and Hamas which was due to expire today has been extended.
According to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), it was extended shortly before it was scheduled to expire.
While announcing the extension, the IDF wrote: “In light of the mediators’ efforts to continue the process of releasing the hostages and subject to the terms of the framework, the operational pause will continue.”
Hamas, the Palestinian militant group, has also announced that it has agreed to extend the truce in Gaza for a seventh day, while Qatar, the mediator between the two sides, also confirmed that another temporary ceasefire had been agreed.
In a statement on its Telegram channel, Hamas revealed it was willing to extend the ceasefire deal with Israel for four days and release more Israeli hostages in exchange for Palestinian security prisoners.
