Iraq’s Minister of Finance, Taif Sami, recently held a meeting with European Union’s Ambassador to Iraq, Ville Varjola, and the Canadian Ambassador to Iraq, Gregory Galligan, and talked about expanding economic ties.
According to a statement from the Iraqi Ministry of Finance, the meeting deliberated on ways to improve Iraq’s bilateral relations with the European Union and Canada through the advancement of cooperation in finance, economy, and investment fields.
Sami confirmed during the meeting that Iraq wants to strengthen cooperation and create economic partnerships with institutions and countries that are friendly. Also, he revealed Iraq’s openness to every form of trade exchange and economic partnerships with the European Union countries and Canada.

The ambassadors of Canada and the European Union expressed their willingness to enhance constructive cooperation with Iraq, especially in investment, energy, and sustainable development projects.
The meeting highlights the ongoing efforts to develop Iraq’s international relationships and foster economic growth and development in the country.
