Iran has said that the second prisoner detained amid the nationwide protests that are challenging the country’s theocracy has been executed.
Mizan news agency, under Iran’s judiciary, identified the executed man as Majidreza Rahnavard. He was convicted over allegedly stabbing two security force members to death in Mashhad and wounding four others on November 17.

The protests have degenerated into one of the biggest challenges to Iran’s theocracy since the 1979 Islamic Revolution.
Activists have warned that others could be put to death soon, saying so far, about 12 people have received death sentences over their involvement in the protests.
