Results of primaries conducted in preparation of the Bayelsa and Kogi gubernatorial elections slated for November 16th have been released by Inec.
The results of the primaries released by the electoral body were contained in an 11-page and 10-page separate reports for Bayelsa and Kogi states respectively, with the outcome of the report showing that 64 parties conducted primaries that were monitored by INEC in Bayelsa state.
According to INEC, seven females emerged victorious from Bayelsa State primaries, while 59 parties in Kogi state conducted primaries which produced four females among the candidates.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, INEC’s Director, Voter Education and Publicity (VEP), Oluwole Osaze Uzzi, said the report did not include the list of governorship candidates contesting for elections in the respective states
Uzzi Statement read:
“As stated in the heading of the report, they are the results of the Political Party Primaries monitored by the commission.
“Some parties may choose, for whatever reason, not to sponsor any candidate even after conducting primaries. It is all in our resolve as a commission to proactively disclose information to the media and the public. We had not previously officially published the result of our monitoring,”
