The reputable Harvard Law Review has elected its first black woman president in its 130-year history. She is 24-year-old Ime Umanah, the daughter of a Nigerian immigrant.
Ime’s father, Dr Ime Sampson Umanah, was a Nigerian immigrant who hailed from Abak Local Government of Akwa Ibom State.
Ime was raised in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. She is a joint degree candidate at Harvard Kennedy School of Government and Harvard Law School.
Umana was elected by the Harvard Law Review’s 92 student editors in what is widely viewed as the highest-ranked position a student can have at the highly competitive law school.
