IKEA Canada To Open Scarborough Centre Store

IKEA Canada, a subsidiary of the Ingka Group, is set to introduce an innovative retail concept in the form of a new store at Scarborough Town Centre. Opening its doors on August 23, 2023, this 7,489m² establishment will showcase over 2,500 thoughtfully curated products while embracing the cherished Swedish Deli culinary experience.

Designed to cater to the Scarborough community and beyond, the IKEA Scarborough Town Centre store will become a hub of affordable, sustainable, and space-efficient living solutions. This venture marks the second of its kind in Canada, following the successful debut of the IKEA Toronto Downtown-Aura store in 2022.

Building upon the principles established by its Toronto counterpart, the Scarborough store will seamlessly integrate a classic one-way flow layout, boasting two entrances/exits and efficiently organized check-out lanes. Visitors will have the opportunity to indulge in the renowned Swedish Deli, relishing in iconic dishes like meatballs and frozen yoghurt.

Moreover, the store will provide an array of digital tools and a comprehensive suite of services designed for the utmost convenience. From assembly and returns to home delivery and an exclusive Planning Hub, the Scarborough Town Centre location will ensure a streamlined shopping experience. Larger furniture items can be conveniently ordered for home delivery or picked up from various accessible points across the city, including the designated IKEA Pick-up Point within the store itself.

IKEA Canada market area manager Niclas Karlsson-Järnkrok said: “At IKEA Canada, we are on an omnichannel transformation journey with a clear objective to continue to meet our customers in an accessible and seamless way.

“As a brand rooted in life at home, we hope our new store in the heart of Scarborough will serve as a convenient and accessible source of inspiration and home furnishing expertise.”

In April this year, IKEA Canada announced plans to open a new ‘Plan and Order’ point in its Brossard store in Quebec.
