Nigeria’s Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba has submitted disciplinary recommendations on the alleged role of the suspended Head of the Intelligence Response Team (IRT), Abba Kyari, a Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) to the Police Service Commission (PSC).
Kyari was indicted in an FBI investigation of a $1.1 million internet scam perpetrated by an Instagram influencer, Abbas Ramon, also known as Hushpuppi, and four others.
The report by a probe panel constituted to investigate Kyari’s role in the alleged online fraud was submitted to the PSC months after the IGP got it.
A member of the PSC, Braimoh Adogame Austin confirmed the commission’s receipt of the report and that the commission would soon start deliberations on the issue.
Also, the recommendations of the panel will guide the commission in deciding and determining Kyari’s future in the force.
Austin said: “The IGP has submitted Abba Kyari’s report to the PSC and deliberations on the matter will commence this week. I can’t tell you when it was submitted but it’s now with the commission.”
