Embattled Ramon Abass a.k.a Hushpuppi has hired a grade A criminal defence lawyer, Loius Shapiro to solicit for him in his trial in the US where he is currently facing charges related to fraud and money laundering.
Hushpuppi secured Shapiro’s services after top Chicago lawyer, Gal Pissetzky, and California-based criminal lawyer, Vicki Podberesky, withdrew their services as his lawyers on the grounds that the Instagram celebrity refused to communicate to them.
After their withdrawal from the case was granted by a Judge on February 22, a request for the approval of Shapiro as the new defence counsel of Hushpuppi was granted on February 25.
According to Premium Times, Mr Shapiro studied law at the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law and started his career with the New York State Attorney General, Elliot Spitzer.
Also, he worked at several agencies like Legal Aid Society’s Immigration Detainee Unit and was a clerk at the federal public defenders office in Los Angeles.
Mr Shapiro was certified as criminal law specialist by the State Bar of California and serves as a Criminal Justice Act Federal Trial Panel attorney for the Central District of California.
