History made as Nigerian-Canadian Chef, Beauty Obasuyi, breaks Guinness World Record for longest cooking by an individual

Nigerian-Canadian Chef, Beauty Obasuyi, has made history by breaking the current Guinness World Record title for the longest cooking marathon by an individual.

The 38-year-old chef who is the founder of Naija Jollof restaurant in Brampton, Ontario, started an eight-day exercise at 295A Queen St E unit 38B Brampton, Ontario, on January 10, which was scheduled to end on January 18, 2024.

She however took a leap of faith by extending the exercise by 10 days extra to promote cultural diversity in culinary skills in her community and to satisfy “food enthusiasts” owing to the massive support from her fans.

She cooked for 18 days and 16 hours (448 hours) and has surpassed Ghanaian Chef Failatu Abdul-Razak’s cook-a-thon attempt for 227- hours of non-stop cooking. Failatu was in place to become the next holder of the record after exceeding the 119 hours and 57 minutes of the holder of the current record, Irishman Alan Fisher.

After rounding off the cooking exercise, she tweeted:

She truly believed she could and she did it!

448hrs done and dusted. It can only be God! 🙌

Thank you all for your support 🙏#Beautycandoitall#Beautyobasuyicookingmarathon pic.twitter.com/1NQGbxx05v
