The Executive Governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu, has forwarded a letter of extension of his medical leave to the State House of Assembly.
Governor Akeredolu started his medical leave last month and said he would resume duties on July 7.
While talking about the extension, Olamide Oladiji, Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, said Akeredolu’s action was in line with Section 190 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended).
According to the Speaker, the new extension was based on the doctor’s advice for the Governor to rest well while recuperating.
It was stated in the letter that Akeredolu’s deputy, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, would keep acting as governor until there is a written declaration to the contrary.
