Google has launched a new service known as Fundo in Canada and the US to help video artists and small businesses set up events, set dates and sell tickets.
While talking about the service in a blog post, General Manager John Gregg said the site has been in beta for over a year with hundreds of “trusted testers,” who can fix the price for access to online events and control how many people can attend.
The turnkey service offers hosting features like video streaming, promotional tools, and payment-transaction processing.
The way it works is Google takes as commission 20 percent cut of revenue generated and Gregg added: “We think that represents the value Fundo provides with the end-to-end platform.”
Fundo allows event hosts to control ticket prices and any discount which includes free events if preferred. Creators that use YouTube Channel Memberships can also provide Fundo Meet & Greets exclusively to channel members as a premium package.
Gregg said: “Over the past year, many parts of life had to move online and become virtual. While we didn’t build Fundo specifically because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the mission of creating meaningful experiences online is even more important today.”
Fans can see events happening on Fundo via the home page or links shared directly by creators. The Google service will display the event link and keep sending reminders up until the time of the event and offer technical support if needed.
