Genevieve Nnaji has been appointed as an ambassador of the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) 2020.
The Nollywood icon has joined the list of 50 highly celebrated actors and filmmakers appointed as the ambassadors of the TIFF.
This appointment came one month after The Academy of Motion Picture, Arts and Sciences, issued its list of new members and Genevieve was listed among the 819 members thst were invited by The Academy alongside invitees like Olivia Wilde, Priyanka Chopra, Natalie Portman, Brie Larson and more.
The respected Toronto International Film Festival is expected to hold between September 10 and September 19, 2020, and the festival will opt for digital screenings and virtual red carpets amid coronavirus pandemic.
Most of the ambassadors will interact with audiences via interactive digital experiences and events. For example, filmmaker, producer and screenwriter Cianfrance will facilitate a dialogue session while actor and producer, David Oyelowo will as part of the TIFF Rising Stars program be a guest speaker.
While talking about the festival, Geoff Macnaughton, Senior Director of Industry & Theatrical, TIFF said: “In a time of disruption, professionals from around the world still look for occasions to come together, share innovative ideas, buy and sell content, and find creative ways to collectively forge ahead towards a safer, healthier, and inclusive future.
