As we all know very well that the Game of Thrones is one of the most viewed series this year. At the premiere of the first chapter of the seventh season in the United States recorded more than 10 million viewers. However, we are also aware that all ‘Game of Thrones’ viewers are not HBO clients and have accessed the content illegally via the Internet.
The Game of Thrones, as we all know, is one of the most viewed series this year. At the premiere of the first chapter of the seventh season in the United States recorded more than 10 million viewers. And it is known that this is the most viewed season of all that make up the world of West.
However, we are also aware that all ‘Game of Thrones’ viewers are not HBO clients and have accessed the content illegally via the Internet. From TorrentFreak comes a statistic made by MUSO, a company that focuses its work to offer solutions to those affected by the piracy market, where it states that it has been illegally accessed the chapters of the seventh season of ‘Game of Thrones’ around a billion times.
Specifically, as it can be seen in the statistics, 84.7% of the viewers who access the series in a pirated way, as they simply do it via streaming, 9.1% decide to download the torrent, the direct download is used by the 5.6% of these people and, finally, only 0.6% access private torrents to see the series.
If this data is analyzed in perspective, it can be said that for every 140 million illegal views, there are 32 million who access the content through a legal channel.
Andy Chatterley, the CEO and Co-founder of MUSO, comments that these alarming statistics on piracy in ‘Game of Thrones’ are due to leaks mostly, ‘it’s no secret that HBO has been plagued by gaps in security during its last season, so it is the main reason why they have seen some episodes filtered before its telecast, adding itself to the activities unauthorized. Moreover, the sixth chapter of the season, which was filtered several days before its date of issue, is the most consumed by the Internet.
This is something that can not be denied, that the chain has beaten audience records thanks to the emission of this fantasy and war story but, on the other hand, almost constant leaks and hacking have made the directors of HBO not have a great time this summer.
However, while these piracy data are alarming for HBO and the creators of the series, but, HBO should also see that this series has garnered a lot of fans all over the world, regardless of age.
