Wildfires in south-eastern France, 10,000 individuals affected.
France asked its EU neighbours for additional help fighting the wildfires attack after many firefighters have been deployed to battle the fires close to Bormes-les-Mimosas, within the country’s Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region.
Some 4,000 hectares (15.4 sq miles) of land have burned on the Mediterranean coast, in the mountainous interior and on the island of Corsica.
One of the worst fires is raging in a district close to the popular resort of Saint-Tropez.
In Corsica, many homes have been evacuated owing to the danger that the wildfire posed to the individuals.
Well over 4,000 firefighters and troops backed by water bombers have been attempting to put out the flames since Monday.
At least twelve firefighters are hurt and fifteen law enforcement officials affected by smoke inhalation.
“People are just terribly tired,” Ms Minot a native of this region said, adding that there are very young kids among the those that evacuated the woods.
She further said she saw planes scooping up water from the sea and then going back “into the pool of black smoke” on the coast.
Ms Minot added that there were reports that some campsites had already been destroyed by the blazes.
