A section of the supermarket owned by the wife of late former governor of Oyo State, Mrs. Florence Ajimobi has caught fire.
The supermarket which is known as Grandex Stores is located at Bodija, Ibadan. According to reports, the supermarket caught fire as a result of electrical surge that occurred at the back of the store which became uncontrollable and turned into a wildfire that spread to the main building.
While confirming the inferno, the Deputy Director, Oyo State Fire Service, Moshood Adewuyi, said that the timely intervention of Oyo State firefighters prevented the supermarket from burning into ashes.
He also disclosed that the fire vandalised some sections of the store and destroyed many goods stored inside.
He added that the former First Lady of Oyo state and other top government officials in the late Abiola Ajimobi’s administration came to the scene of the incident.
