Former Super Eagles winger and AFC Ajax legend, Finidi George has been ranked by data companies, Sofascore and Opta, as the third-best player at the 1994 World Cup hosted by the United States.

It should be recalled that Finidi, who currently is the assistant Super Eagles coach, played a pivotal role as Nigeria shocked the world in what was the country’s first-ever appearance at the most prominent football stage in the world.
Nigeria played in America as the reigning African champions and surprised many by topping the group with Argentina, Greece and Bulgaria.
Super Eagles started their campaign with a win against Bulgaria with late Rashidi Yekini scoring Nigeria’s first-ever goal at the World Cup courtesy of a brilliant assist from Finidi.

In a stat released by Sofascore and Opta, Finidi had a rating of 7.88 – the third-best at the tournament.
Only Romanian sensation Gheorghe Hagi (8.00) and Swedish star Kennet Andersson (7.89) had higher ratings than Finidi at USA ’94.
