Head Coach of Cofine FC of Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, Remi Amadi has been issued a two-year global ban from every football-related activity by Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA).
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) disclosed this in a recent statement.
Amadi was found guilty of trying to manipulate the outcome of a match seven months ago.
According to the statement released by the NFF, Amadi admitted that he attempted to manipulate the outcome or result of the match between Cofine FC and Bussdor FC as recorded in an audio conversation submitted as evidence.
Based on its various findings, the Disciplinary Committee of NFF earlier condemned the two-year ban on the culpable coach and an N500,000 fine on Cofine FC.
The statement read: “The world body’s Disciplinary Committee conveyed this decision to the Nigeria Football Federation, and it is a consequence of a similar ban imposed on the gaffer by the NFF Disciplinary Committee at its meeting of 16th August 2021.
“The NFF Integrity Unit forwarded the said decision of the NFF Disciplinary Committee and all the relevant documentation to the FIFA Disciplinary Committee via a letter dated 25th August 2021, requesting the Committee to extend the sanction to have a worldwide effect, in accordance with Article 66, FIFA Disciplinary Code.
“The worldwide effect was activated by the FIFA Disciplinary Committee at its meeting of 5th October 2021.”
