The federal government has ordered the suspension of all mining activities in Zamfara state with immediate impact.
The directive was made known on Sunday by the inspector general of Police mohammed Adamu at a group discussion in capital of Nigeria.
The IGP unconcealed that every one foreigners on mining sites are asked to vacate their locations or risk their losing licenses.
“The centralized of Federal Republic of Nigeria has set as follows; Mining activities in Zamfara and its setting are herewith suspended with immediate effect. Consequently, any mining operator World Health Organization engages in mining activities within the affected locations henceforward can have his or her license revoked.”
The IGP aforesaid ‘Operation Puff-Adder’ is to enforce the directive.
The directive followed the launch of Operation Puff-Adder to tackle seizure, pillage and alternative criminal activities on the Kaduna-Abuja main road and adjacent communities extending to Kogi, Katsina, Niger and Zamfara states.
“The operation is aimed toward reclaiming each public area beneath the management of the bandits. Arrest and convey to book, all perpetrators of the violence within the space and their collaborators and to attain a complete destruction of all criminal camps and hide-out.”
He required collaborations with the overall public, ancient and non secular leaders, because the security forces commence flushing out armed pillage within the region.
“I wish to assure the overall public, particularly within the affected areas, that the safety services do their best to handle the security scenario.
“May I charm for the cooperation of the native communities, particularly the standard and non secular leaders at intervals the community to get together with the safety agencies”
