The Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, has admonished young Nigerians to stop renouncing their citizenship as they seek to pursue greener pasture. According to the Minister, the act is worrisome and counterproductive.
The Minister raised his concerns when speaking at the Ministerial Alignment Meeting of the Presidential Task Force on Deliverables for Ministries, Departments, and Agencies of Government.
He was represented at the meeting by the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Dr. Shuaib Belgore. While talking, the Minister said the Federal government would establish a mechanism that would keep young Nigerians busy in various productive activities.
He urged to the youths to stop renouncing their citizenship.
While talking further, the Minister said a committee would be constituted in the Ministry with stakeholders to supervise the operations and implementation of the deliverables.
He made it known that the committee would be headed by the Director, Planning Research and Statistics (PRS) in the Ministry, Mr. Kabiru Ayuba, with representatives of the four Services under the Ministry and other officers that are relevant.
