Team Nigeria has finally won a medal at the ongoing Tokyo Olympic event after Ese Brume won a bronze medal in the women’s long jump event.
Brume came third in the Long Jump final after leaping 6.97m.
Germany’s Malaika Mihambo won the gold medal with 7.00m, while Brittney Reese of the United States came second with 6.97m.
Brume’s achievement broke the jinx for Nigeria, as she last won a medal in Athletics in 2008.
Also, the 25-year-old athlete was the jinx-breaker in Doha, where she put an end to Nigeria’s long wait for a medal at the World Championships.
However, Team Nigeria will be adding yet another medal at the Olympics soon as Blessing Oborodudu will fight in the 68kg wrestling final.
