DJ Switch: I roasted Wole Soyinka during a panel discussion

DJ Switch has revealed that she roasted Nigeria’s prolific writer, Professor Wole Soyinka when she was given an opportunity to talk about him at an event.

While making the revelation, she said she was a panellist at a recent event and before the commencement of the event, the panellists discussed African writers. Someone talked about Wole Soyinka and she was asked to respond.

According to her, she roasted the Nobel Laureate during her response.

She tweeted: “Was a panellist at an event over the weekend and just before the event started, we all got talking about African writers and of course Nigeria’s contribution.

“Someone brought up Wole Soyinka (whose works are quite exceptional if I might add)… and I was given the floor.

“Brethren… I would like to let you people know that I did not let one bullet go astray! Wole Soyinka unlike many of his counterparts chose to be completely separate from his works and also chose to display his bigotry and myopic thinking these past few months. It was my esteemed pleasure to roast the uncle while maintaining decorum and extol other Nigerian writers!”

This came after Wole Soyinka said the leadership of the Labour Party (LP) knew that Peter Obi did not win the February 25 election.

While speaking at an event which took place in Stellenbosch, South Africa, Soyinka said: “Peter Obi achieved something remarkable there, that he broke that mould. However, he did not win the election.

“I can say categorically that Peter Obi’s party came third not even second and the leadership knew it but they want to do what we call in Yoruba ‘gbajue’, that is force of lies.”
