In recent years, there has been a surge in plastic and cosmetic surgeries across the world as more women are willing to go under the knife just to have the perfect body. This is especially so because many men now have more interest in big butts and breasts than the personality of the female they are dealing with. More so, there seem to be a subtle oppression from women who naturally have big butts and breasts and so, others want to meet up with the ‘two reigning and selling commodities’.

To achieve their aim, they have resulted to cosmetic surgeries. Despite the cost implications, and also that one’s safety is not guaranteed, many of these women are willing to take the risk and go under the knife just to have that ‘killer body’.

Some do not care to ask the right questions before taking that life-threatening risk. In view of this, we have assembled some important things and questions you need to consider before you make that move.

A. You need to do a proper research. This entails all the processes involved. You need to get acquainted with the process. Experts advise that you find out as much as possible about the procedure you want. This includes knowing the name of the procedure, what the procedure actually entails if the procedure is going to achieve the result you want and whether it is the correct procedure for the body part for which you are seeking enhancement.

B. You must also be deliberate in thoroughly reviewing your surgeon’s qualifications and experience. The truth is that Cosmetic surgery comes with a lot of complications so you need to be sure you are in safe hands. Ensure your plastic surgeon is board certified by the Board of Plastic Surgery. You need to ask how often your surgeon performs the procedure. Check reviews. What are people saying about him/her?

C. It is recommended that you need to be healthy before undergoing cosmetic surgery so timing is sacrosanct. You also need to divulge your entire medical history to your plastic surgeon to enable him/her do a proper assessment. You also need to be as physically fit as possible before surgery.

D. Your recovery will depend on your procedure, how long surgery takes if you’ll have a hospital stay, and the type of anaesthesia used. Depending on your procedure, you may need days or even weeks to recover so need to be patient. Remember that it comes with initial aches, pains, and bruises, and after those have faded you may still have restrictions ordered by your plastic surgeon. You need to ask about your recovery, especially the first 24-48 hours. Ask when you will be able to return to work, when you can return to strenuous activity such as exercise, and how long until you should start to see your final results. This will guide you on how to go about your normal life.

E. You need to be thoroughly educated about the risks and complications that come with the surgery so as to prepare your mind. Reality is that there is a risk to any surgical procedure and you should be fully aware of all the risks before choosing to have your procedure. Another risk is that despite perfect technique or what is considered a good result by a plastic surgeon, you may not be happy with the final result.

F. Another important thing is that you need to have realistic expectations. This is because your plastic surgeon can only control what happens inside the operating room. Plastic surgery will not cure depression or eating disorders. Approach your cosmetic surgery with realistic and hopefully attainable expectations so that you can prepare your mind for anything that happens.

G. More importantly, you need to ask about the financial implications before setting out. Cosmetic surgeries are usually expensive so you need to be fully aware of the cost implications.
