The Emir of Kaura-Namoda in Zamfara State, Alhaji Mohammed Ahmad Asha, has died. He died in the early hours of today as a result of complications related to coronavirus.
According to the Control and Prevention of COVID-19 in Zamfara State’s Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Mustafa Jafaru Kaura, the Emir was in isolation at Yariman Bakura Specialist Hospital, Gusau.
Mustafa revealed that his blood sample had been sent to Abuja and COVID-19 test is being ran on the sample but “the result is still being awaited”.
He said the corpse of the late Emir was still in the hospital waiting to be buried by officials of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).
The late Emir was crowned in 2004 by the state’s first civilian Governor, Alhaji Sani Yariman Bakura.
Before he became an Emir, Ahmad Asha worked as an accountant at Kaura Namoda Local Government Council, an auditor at Gusau Local Government Council, and Director of Finance at Bukkuyum Local Government Council.
In year 2000, the late Emir became Senior District Head (Chief) of Kaura Namoda and he held that position till he was appointed as Kaura Namoda’s second Emir.
