The Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau has pledged an emergency aid for students whose job and education prospects are affected by coronavirus.
He revealed that a $1,250 monthly payment which will run through August will be availed to post-secondary students in a bid to augment lost work and cut hours.
According to him, the benefit can be increased to $1,750 for disabled people or people who care for others.
The Prime Minister also made it known that in a bid to reward students for their efforts and communities volunteering works, they will soon be eligible to get monthly payments of between $1,000 and $5,000.
The aim of these benefits is to support young people that have not really benefited from other emergency relief programs.
Trudeau disclosed further that this emergency aid and other aids like increased education grants and an enlarged job programs that are supported by the government will cost $9 billion.
