A WASSCE candidate who tested positive for COVID-19 in Gombe State wrote his first paper in the ongoing West African Senior School Certificate Examination from an isolation centre in Gombe.

The male candidate whose name is not disclosed wrote his Mathematics examination under the watch of an invigilator who was completely kitted in a Personal Protective Equipment.

This development was disclosed by Gombe State Public Health Emergency Operations Centre disclosed via a message recently tweeted on its official Twitter handle.
The tweet read: “Health and education are a priority in Gombe State.
“A final year student of GSSS Gombe tested positive for COVID-19 and was isolated yesterday (Sunday), today (Monday), he is writing Mathematics SSCE while ensuring his invigilator is well protected.”
The tweet has received a lot of commendations on Twitter. The Director-General of Nigerian Centre for Disease Control, Dr. Chikwe Ihekweazu was part of those who commended the effort.
Ihekweazu was tagged in the tweet and while responding through his verified Twitter handle, he wrote: “Good work by our colleagues in #Gombe.
“There are many exceptional colleagues, quietly pushing to make or country work. #Thankyou #keeppushing.”
