The Executive Governor of Cross River State, Ben Ayade, has directed civil servants from grade level 10 in the state to resume work on April 14.
The directive came at a time when most governors in Nigeria are extending lockdown in their states due to the increasing cases of the coronavirus pandemic across the country.
Ayade gave the directive in a statement issued by his spokesperson on Saturday. His spokesperson, Christian Ita, however, stated that “all returning civil servants are to receive nose masks from the COVID@19 Response Task Force through their respective permanent secretaries”.
The government said in the statement that the ‘no mask, no movement’ policy in the state would still be in operation and and would be applicable to the civil servants.
It added that all gatherings including religious worships, weddings and burials are still banned in the state and only residents wearing the appropriate mask would be allowed into public places.
He said, “All nose masks to be used in the state must be locally made, with the place of origin clearly marked.
“The sale of masks made by the Cross River State Garment Factory is prohibited. Masks are to be distributed free of charge.”
Cross River which is one of the states yet to record any coronavirus case in Nigeria and the State has since banned entrance, vehicular entrance and flights from other states into the state.
