Justice Ibrahim Galadima of the National Industrial Court, in Abuja has restrained the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC) from forging ahead with their proposed nationwide protest on September 28.
The judge gave the injunction while ruling on an ex-parte application filed by Peace and Unity Ambassadors Association.
It should be recalled that both the NLC and TUC had threatened to commence a nationwide protest and industrial action in a bid to compel the Federal Government to reverse the recent hike in the pump price of petrol and electricity tariff.
Justice Galadima ordered the unions and their affiliate groups to stop the plan pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice that the applicant filed.
He also approved an order of interim injunction which restrains the unions from disrupting, restraining, picketing or preventing the workers or ordinary Nigerians from entering their offices on September 28 or any other date.
