Following Costco United States’s announcement on May 4 that customers were required to wear face mask while in Costco US premises, Costco Canada followed suit and has announced that every customer is required to wear a mask or face covering while visiting their stores.
This announcement was made recently and while making the announcement, the Costco said: “Public health experts recommend the use of masks or face coverings in public settings. To protect our members and employees, it is recommended that all Costco members and guests wear a mask or face covering that covers the mouth and nose, at all times while on Costco premises.”
Children below two years and those who are not able to wear a face covering due to a medical condition shall be exempt.
While continuing the statement, Costco said: “The use of a mask or face covering should not be seen as a substitute for social distancing. Please continue to observe rules regarding appropriate distancing while on Costco premises. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.”
The statement from Costcos used both the recommendation and requirement of the terms, so it is not clear for now whether the policy will in any way be enforced in Kelowna or Kamloops.
