Coronavirus patients at Kwanar Dawakin isolation centre in Kano held two doctors and a nurse hostage yesterday.
The incident was confirmed by former Chairman of Nigerian Medical Association in Kano, Professor Aminu Mohammed, during an interview with Wazobia FM this morning.
While confirming the incident, he said the health workers who were fully kitted were on ward round when they were locked inside for hours by the Coronavirus patients. He revealed further that the doctors were at the verge of suffocating before they were able to break the door and found their way out of the ward.
One of the coronavirus patients confirmed the incident. The patient said they were protesting the stalled testing and confirmation of their coronavirus status within the 7 days period of taking drugs. He made it clear that the health workers did not break the door but they were allowed to leave the ward after the health workers leader at the isolation centre intervened.
