Colleen Jones Returns To Scotties As Coach

Six-time champion Colleen Jones is set to make a return to the Scotties Tournament of Hearts, this time in the role of a coach. Jones, a curling legend who played in a record 21 editions of the national women’s playdowns, will be coaching the Nova Scotia team led by skip Heather Smith at the upcoming championship.

Heather Smith and her team secured victory over Christina Black in a final that went to an extra end. The team also includes Jill Brothers, Marie Christianson, and Erin Carmody. Jones, having vast experience as a player, aims to bring her insights and coaching skills to guide the team.

Jones expressed her enthusiasm about the coaching role, stating, “Coaching is a whole other ball of wax for me. I think I know what I want to hear from a coach, so I try to give that.” She highlighted the strengths of Team Smith, emphasizing their excellent rock-throwing abilities.

The Scotties Tournament of Hearts is scheduled to take place from February 16 to 25 at Calgary’s WinSport Event Centre. Teams from various provinces and territories will compete for the national title. Jones, known for her achievements on the curling rink, including six Hearts titles, brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the coaching role.

In addition to her coaching duties, Jones remains active as a competitive curler and recently represented Nova Scotia at the Canadian mixed curling championship. Her involvement in coaching and playing demonstrates her continued passion and dedication to the sport of curling.
