Chief Donatus Agu-Ejidike JP congratulates Super Falcons on 2024 Olympics qualification, by Babatunde Ajibode

The Nigeria’s Pillar of Sports, Chief Donatus Agu-Ejidike JP has congratulated the Super Falcons of Nigeria for picking one of the two tickets for Africa in the 2024 Paris Olympic, women football event, at the expense of the Bayana Bayana of South Africa.

He gave the congratulatory  in Ilorin shortly after the 2nd leg of the last qualifying round, between Nigeria and South Africa, which ended in a barren draw. The Super Falcons had last Friday, pipped their South African counterparts 1-0 in Abuja, courtesy of a well-taken spot kick, and followed it up with a 0-0 draw at Loftus Park in South Africa.

The Nnewi-born business Mogul, who is also the patron of the Nigeria Football Supporters Club (NFSC), described the performance of the Falcons as a gritty one, born out of experience, and form. He therefore charges the team to go all out in the next summer Olympic in the city of Paris, and better their previous records and possibly win gold.

The Anambra-born former President of the Karate Federation of Nigeria (KFN) also commended the efforts of the technical crew, for being able to, successfully, navigate the tricky paths of qualifiers, defeating the likes of Cape Verde, Cameroon and South Africa, before pocketing the much coveted ticket. Ejidike, in his commendation, did not forget other critical stakeholders whose efforts contributed, one way or the other, to the team’s success.

The last time the Nigerian Women’s national football team qualified for the Olympic games was in Beijing 2008, having missed out on the, 2012, 2016, and 2020 editions, in London, Rio de Jeaneiro, and Tokyo, respectively.
