A team of 12 dedicated members from the Carpenters’ Union Local 27 Equity Committee has taken their craftsmanship and humanitarian spirit overseas to make a meaningful difference in the lives of a less fortunate family in Chapleton, Clarendon, Jamaica.
This development was contained in a LinkedIn post by Chris Campbell, the Vice President of Toronto Carpenters’ Union Local 27 and also Director of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion, Carpenters’ Reginal Council (CRC).
It was revealed that in a heartwarming initiative, these skilled tradespeople worked tirelessly to construct a new home for a family in dire need.
This noble endeavor, spearheaded by the Carpenters’ Union Local 27 Equity Committee, saw the union members utilizing their exceptional carpentry skills to build a safe and comfortable dwelling for a family who had been living in challenging conditions. The project not only demonstrates their commitment to their trade but also their dedication to giving back to communities in need.
According to Chris, a significant portion of the project’s success was attributed to the invaluable collaboration of Food For The Poor of Canada, Inc. He noted that their support and partnership made it possible to turn this mission into a reality.
It is germane to note that Food For The Poor of Canada, Inc. has a long-standing reputation for its charitable work and unwavering commitment to assisting those living in impoverished conditions.
The VP also averred that what sets this mission apart was the remarkable selflessness displayed by the Carpenters’ Union members. They not only contributed their time and skills but also covered their own flight and accommodation expenses.
In the post, Chris extended the team’s heartfelt appreciation to all those who played a role in making this mission a success.
He noted that the collaborative effort of Carpenters’ Union Local 27, Carpenters’ Regional Council, Food For The Poor of Canada, Inc., Food For The Poor Jamaica, Toronto Community Benefits Network, Building Up, and the Jamaica Information Service has truly made a positive impact on the lives of the less fortunate.
Chris also lauded Robert Nester Morgan MP of Chapleton, Jamaica, who extended his support to this humanitarian cause. He stated that the MP’s involvement further highlighted the importance of community leaders and government officials working hand in hand with organizations and individuals dedicated to improving the lives of those in need.
