Famous Canadian rapper, Tory Lanez is facing new felony and assault charges relating to his July 12 arrest on a concealed firearm charge in Los Angeles. He was accused of shooting Megan Thee Stallion in her feet during the incident.
According to the Los Angeles District Attorney’s office, he has been charged with assault with a semiautomated firearm, personal use of a firearm and possessing a loaded and unregistered firearm in a vehicle, according to the Los Angeles District Attorney’s office.
The office noted in a statement about the charges that he “faces a gun allegation and that he personally inflicted great bodily injury.”
If convicted, Lanez could face almost 23 years in prison. His arraignment will take place on October 13.
Megan Thee Stallion and one other woman were in the car with Lanez when he was apprehended around 4:30 a.m. on July 12. According to TMZ, when officers arrived, they saw people argue in an SUV that drove away after sporadic gun shots were fired. Few hours after his arrest, Lanez was released on $35,000 bail.
Meg posted a statement on Instagram on July 15 and said that she suffered gunshot wounds “as a result of a crime that was committed against me and done with the intention to physically harm me.”
Megan publicly said Tory Lanez shot her for the first time when she went live on Instagram on August 20. She said no fewer than four people had been in the car and that she stepped out to distance herself from an argument that had commenced.
