A military helicopter of Canada crashed into the Mediterranean Sea located between Italy and Greece off Kefalonia in the night from April 29 to April 30.
The helicopter onboard frigate HMCS Fredericton was part of NATO manoeuvre’s Operation “Reinsurance” that was commanded from the Headquarters in Naples.
While confirming the helicopter’s crash, one death and five missing crew members, Canada’s Minister of Defence, Harjit Sajjan said the crash helicopter had six soldiers on board. Out of the six soldiers, four were from the Canadian Air Force and the other two were from the Navy.
While mouring the death of the soldiers, the Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau said: “I join all Canadians in mourning the loss of six Canadian Armed Forces members. All of them are heroes. Each of them will leave a void that cannot be filled.“
