An insider report has it that Canadian Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau will shuffle his cabinet on Wednesday. The reshuffling of the cabinet will now see the Foreign Minister Chrystia Freeland take on a new job role with a high a responsibility to prevent a national unity crisis.
Recall, Trudeau’s Liberals lost their majority in an October election and now have no legislators in the western energy-producing provinces of Alberta and Saskatchewan, which oppose tougher environmental laws that critics say could cripple the oil industry.
With birth place in Alberta , Freeland has been considered to be made the minister of intergovernmental affairs. And since she grew up in Alberta she may be in the right position to deal with the provinces.
Trudeau is due to release the names of his cabinet and swear them in at about 1.30 p.m. ET (1830 GMT) and will hold a news conference at 3.30 p.m. ET.
The Liberal sources however said the decisions were not final and that a last-minute change were still possible.
The offices of Trudeau and Freeland however declined to comment.
