Canada is sending no fewer than 40 military engineers to Poland to train Ukrainian forces in their ongoing fight against Russia.
The deployment was announced by Defence Minister Anita Anand announced during a visit to Warsaw before a scheduled meeting with NATO counterparts in Belgium.
The latest contribution is on top of the approximately 225 military trainers collaborating with Ukrainian forces as part of a British-led training assignment.

Also, it is in addition to the deployment of three Hercules transport planes to Scotland, where the aircraft are helping in delivering supplies to Ukrainian forces fighting Russia.
The Department of National Defence revealed that the engineers would be attached to a Polish-led training effort aimed at teaching Ukrainian how to use explosives and other things.
The announcement by Anand came days after an explosion destroyed an important bridge that connects Russia and Ukraine’s Crimean Peninsula, propelling Russian President Vladimir Putin to order missile strikes on many Ukrainian cities.
