Canada’s transport agency has said it would conduct a Boeing 737 MAX test flight over a year after two deadly crashes facilitated to the jetliner’s grounding around the world.
In a statement, Transport Canada said it would carry out the test flights in US airspace during the week of August 24.
Also, agency staff will carry out flight simulator tests at Boeing’s facility in Seattle.
Boeing has been achieving great results in getting the MAX certified to fly again, with test flights in late June, however, authorities have not yet given the go ahead.
Recenty, the Federal Aviation Administration of the United States released a list of recommended changes in a bid to ensure the safety of the Boeing 737 MAX.
While talking about the test flight, the agency said: “Transport Canada remains committed to ensuring that flight restrictions in Canada remain in effect until the department is fully satisfied that the manufacturer and the FAA have addressed all safety concerns and that training requirements for flight crews are in place.”
The 737 MAX was grounded on March 13, 2019 after the crash of an Ethiopian Airlines aircraft which killed 157 passengers and crew.
The tragedy happened months after a Lion Air 737 MAX crashed and claimed the lives of 189 people.
The anti-stall flight system of MAX, the MCAS, was partially blamed for both crashes.
