According to reports, a Nigerian postgraduate student in a Canadian university has lost his admission after a well-known Nigerian bank failed to process his tuition months after he made payment.
The sad development was shared by Victor Babatunde, a Twitter user, who disclosed that the misfortune had befallen his friend.
Victor said his friend started the payment process of his tuition in time, around two months ago and the bank deducted the tuition, which was in the region of 2.7 million naira, last month.
After deducting the payment as well and other charges, the bank didn’t process the payment, as such, the tuition did not get across to the school. This made the school cancel his friend’s admission.
He tweeted: “This is really the saddest thing I’ve heard this year 💔

“So my friend’s admission has been withdrawn and cancelled after spending tens of millions of naira on his Postgraduate Studies in Canada because @gtbank and @cenbank didn’t process his last tuition after months.
“He knew he had to start the payments process earlier than his other international classmates so he started the tuition payment process for his final semester in school about 2 months ago with GT Bank. Last month (November 28, 2022), GTBank deducted the tuition fee and other accompanying charges from my account (Screenshots attached). But up till this very moment, Guaranty Trust Bank has refused to process the payment and get it across to his school, which made the school withdraw and cancel his admission yesterday.”
